TouchTone - Red Bull Hack the Hits

My team and I were one of 5 teams chosen globally to participate in the first Red Bull Hack the Hits hackathon in San Francisco, CA. We were the only out-of-state team, representing Pitt and CMU. We made TouchTone, an all-in-one string instrument that uses electric potential to convert physical pressure and location into any sound the user wants on four seperate MIDI channels. The user can also use hand motions to modulate the sound produced, as well as control visual effects for the entire concert venue. This hack won the hackathon and was featured in Forbes.

Pitt API

The University of Pittsburgh is severely lacking in terms of the amount of data it makes open to the public. The Pitt API is a Python API aimed at allowing people to interface with scraped (and de-obfuscated) Pitt data, such as course data, computer lab data, and (a very hard fought battle) laundry machine data.

CardboardVision was a hack made at TartanHacks 2015. The goal was to give visually-impaired people their depth perception back using split depth techniques. To do this, we used CV techniques of optical flow, background/foreground segmentation, and corner detection. This could also be used to create 3D videos at a low cost.

OuijaBot was made at YHack 2014. Ouija boards are a fake way to communicate with the spirit world, so following the Halloween theme of YHack, my team and I developed a robot that you could talk to and it would actually answer your question by spelling the answer out with a laser.

Crowdfree was made to solve a problem at the University of Pittsburgh: not knowing how big the line at Chipotle and other popular places on campus are. This Android app crowdsources line data from users and displays a wait time rating, allowing people to spend more time eating than waiting.

Java Spark

TeslaJarvis was made at my first hackathon, MHacks IV. TeslaJarvis is an automation platform for Tesla Model S drivers. It will automatically gather weather data and location data and then perform actions on the car as necessary. The user can select what features to enable.

PAT Realtime Tracker

Downloaded over 10,000 times, this Android app helps to get people out of the cold by tracking the public transit buses of Pittsburgh, PA in real-time. This is my first Android app, and one I'm proud of because it has an impact.
