About Me
My name is Ritwik Gupta and I am a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Berkeley, where I am a member of the Berkeley AI Research (BAIR) and the Berkeley Risk and Security Lab (BRSL) labs. My research focus is on computer vision for chaotic environments, as well as the governance of dual-use AI in both civil and defense contexts. I am co-advised by Drs. Trevor Darrell and Shankar Sastry. I am an AI Policy Fellow in the Center for Security in Politics under the advisement of Sec. Janet Napolitano.
I conduct open-source investigations as a Research Fellow at Berkeley’s Human Rights Center.
Outside of Berkeley, I serve as the Technical Director for Autonomy for the Defense Innovation Unit and as the Advisor on AI and AI Policy to the U.S. Department of Justice.
I organize the Berkeley AI Reseach Climate Initiative which brings together researchers to work on AI research through the lens of climate change and helps to translate that work into real-world applications. If you are interested in participating, please join our Slack group and send me a message.
If you would like to contact me, you can email me at [email protected]. I am currently accepting undergraduates with a strong background in partial differential equations, high performance computing, and/or physics-integrated neural networks.
